We lost a great man and great leader in Bill Walsh. A man of his caliper just doesn’t come around to often and we all know that, i was greatful to be living the bay area when he had everyone and I mean everyone talking about the San Francisco 49ers, and thanks again coach for bringing us outstanding individuals in Joe Montana, Ronnie Lott, the list goes on and on. He was bigger than life itself yet so kind in nature -will all miss Mr. Walsh--especially the 49er faithful--regards to all of his family and may god bless his soul.

He was simply "the greatest" Never missed a 9er game when he was coaching.

If Walsh did not coach, the high scoring games would occur less often. Most modern coaches now seem to still use his offense and it seems that it works for teams that blitz and are aggressive on defense.

It was October 30, 1993 - while walking towards Stanford Stadium to attend a game with Oregon State, with my wife and 15 month-old son. As we walked, with my son riding on my shoulders, his blanket fell to the ground as he watched the Cardinal team jogging towards the stadium. Coach Walsh just happened to be behind us, saw the blanket on the ground, and to our surprise, stopped his jog into the game, picked up the blanket, smiled and handed it back to my son. From what I've heard many times since, this is just the every day kindness he showed to nearly everyone. A classy man, he'll be missed.

He is the God of the 49ers. He has made Football what it is today and he will be missed greatly. you know someone has touched a sport when every fan out there has respect and admiration for Mr. Bill Walsh......it's because of his greatness and truly what a great wonderful person he was.
– Shelby Robinson, Manteca, Calif.
While I am a diehard Giants fan since the 50's,I feel that anyone who appreciates the game can only appreciate what Mr. Walsh brought to the game of football. He also brought dignity and class to the sport and to society. I find it unique that someone you don't know on a personal level can have some influence on our lives. Mr. Walsh was that type of individual. My deepest sympathy to the Walsh family.
