New book has ‘stuff’ on A-Rod, Canseco says
Ex-slugger also reportedly has given names to steroid investigator Mitchell

NEW YORK - Jose Canseco, who admitted to steroid use in a book two years ago, has reportedly met with former Senator George Mitchell to provide baseball’s investigation of performance-enhancing drugs with several names.
Canseco’s lawyer, Robert O. Saunooke told the New York Times that Canseco spoke to Mitchell about “what players, managers and owners knew and all the ins and outs of drug use and procedures.” Canseco and Mitchell plan to meet again in the next month.
Canseco, the former Oakland Athletics star, published the book “Juiced” in 2005, in which he wrote about taking steroids along with Mark McGwire, Juan Gonzalez, Rafael Palmeiro and Ivan Rodriguez among others.
The book led to congressional hearings on steroids at which Palmeiro denied steroid use and McGwire refused to answer the questions.
In an interview with a Boston radio station on Friday, Canseco said he was talking to publishers about a new book.
Canseco said he had “other stuff on Alex Rodriguez that will be coming out”, but there is no suggestion that the New York Yankees third baseman used steroids.
Saunooke would not offer much more on the subject.
“Jose has information about A-Rod and the Yankees that will be in the book,” he said. “But, I am not sure if Jose is willing to disclose it at this point.”
Rodriguez said he had not heard Canseco’s remarks and had no comment.
Canseco played for the Yankees in 2000, prior to Rodriguez’s arrival in the Bronx.
