FORT ERIE, Ontario - Mike Fox, the upset winner of the Queen's Plate at Woodbine on June 24, will begin from post 5 when he attempts to double up in the $500,000 Prince of Wales Stakes here at Fort Erie on Sunday.

The field for the 1 3/16-mile Prince of Wales hit six following a last-minute decision by trainer Roger Attfield to enter Poachers Moon.

Post positions for the Prince of Wales, which is the second leg of the Triple Crown for Canadian-bred 3-year-olds, were drawn at a ceremony here late Wednesday afternoon.

Mike Fox, owned by D. Morgan Firestone and trained by Ian Black, was made the 9-5 morning-line choice for the Prince of Wales by Fort Erie oddsmaker Jerry Davis.

Emma-Jayne Wilson, who registered the biggest win of her career in the Queen's Plate, returns aboard Mike Fox.

"I think in a six-horse field it doesn't make a lot of difference, but I'm happy to be where I am," Black said of the draw.

Alezzandro, who almost made all the running in the Queen's Plate and ended a half-length behind Mike Fox as the runner-up, will open as the 2-1 second choice in the Prince of Wales and drew post 6.

Owned by Knob Hill Stable and the estate of Steve Stavro, Alezzandro retains the services of jockey Todd Kabel.

"I'm happy with it," trainer Kevin Attard said. "Hopefully, we can avoid an inside press, if anything."

Jiggs Coz, beaten 1 3/4 lengths as the third-place finisher in the Queen's Plate under regular rider David Clark, has been made the 5-2 third choice for the Prince of Wales and will begin from post 2.

Daaher, who finished fourth as the 7-2 second choice in the Queen's Plate, will be returning from his Saratoga base for the Prince of Wales and will start from post 4 here at 6-1.

Owned by Shadwell Stable, Daaher has been trained by Kiaran McLaughlin, who has been serving a seven-day suspension that was to end on Thursday. Art Magnuson, a McLaughlin assistant, will be the trainer of record on Sunday.

Daaher's regular rider, Alan Garcia, was not available, and Mike Luzzi has picked up the mount.

Marchfield ended seventh in the Queen's Plate as the third choice. Owned and bred by Eugene Melnyk and trained by Mark Casse, Marchfield has been pegged at 8-1 and will break from post 1 under returning rider Patrick Husbands.

Poachers Moon, owned by Harlequin Ranches, won his maiden at 1 1/16 miles at Woodbine on June 22 and is listed as the 15-1 outsider in the Prince of Wales.

Chantal Sutherland retains the mount.
