So much action, so little time

Like many poker players at this moment, I'm still not quite sure how I'm using my bankroll this week. I might just buy into the $10,000 World Series of Poker main event (with help from some backers) and then devote some time to cash games. But given that I'll be in Las Vegas Wednesday night, it feels slightly irresponsible to not play a satellite event on Thursday and try to win my way into the main event for much less than $10K.

For anybody who wants a main event seat, there are still plenty of chances on Thursday, with $550 and $1,060 "mega" multiple-table satellites, as well as all-day-and-all-night single-table and two-table satellites

I don't know, though. The side games during World Series main event week are usually tremendous, and a big part of me wants to just buy into the main event, start play on either Sunday or Monday and take shots at the cash games on Thursday and Friday.

And it's not like there aren't many other tournaments to consider this week. Friday's $2,500 + $120 tournament at Bellagio could be a good way to warm up for the main event. And the $540 Friday tournament at Wynn Las Vegas has a tremendous structure for a tournament with such a relatively small buy-in. There's clearly a surplus of money-making opportunities this week, and I know many poker players are weighing all their options.

Last year, many of the poker rooms in Las Vegas were so crowded during main event week that you had to wait hours for many cash games. I expect the same madness this year, and I have to say I'm looking forward to it.
