Los Angeles Lakers power forward Luke Walton denied the rumor that many media outlets have reported in the past few days -- that he is dating pop singer Britney Spears, the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday.

"The rumors aren't true," Walton told the newspaper. "I'm sure Britney is a great person, but I don't even know her. I have a girlfriend. I'm very happy with my relationship."

What does his Hall of Fame dad Bill think?

"My dad probably thinks it's true."

An Australian web site originally said that Walton and Spears were a budding item.
