Bochy downplayed facing his former club, which declined to extend his contract after last season and allowed him to pursue other opportunities after 12 seasons as Padres manager.

“I don’t plan on doing any socializing,” Bochy said beforehand, noting he would offer a “cordial hello.”

“My focus is on our ballclub.”

Bochy waved and tipped his hat during pregame introductions, then shook hands with Black near home plate.

“I’m sure he had probably more jitters than we did,” Cameron said about Black. “Everyone has them no matter who you are.”

New Giants leadoff hitter and center fielder Dave Roberts, another former Padre, followed Bochy out and greeted his former teammates on the two-time defending NL West champions.

Bonds worked the count full against Peavy in the first inning, then got jammed and used an inside-out swing to punch a single to left with the infield shifted. Bonds stole second and received a standing ovation.

Peavy, an 11-game winner last year who has allowed three of Bonds’ 734 homers, defeated the Giants on opening day for the second straight year. The right-hander struck out six and walked two in a 98-pitch performance. The Padres have allowed 85 homers to Bonds, the slugger’s most against any team.

Roberts, still sore from crashing into the center-field wall Sunday in Oakland, reached on a single in the third. He was in the lineup a day after undergoing an MRI and treatment on his tender left shoulder.
