LUBBOCK, Texas - Jarrius Jackson hit two free throws with 14.2 seconds remaining to lift Texas Tech over Oklahoma State 59-57 on Saturday.

The Cowboys had a chance but Terrel Harris missed a 3-pointer before Mario Boggan got the rebound and stepped back to behind the arc but missed as time expired.

The loss extended Oklahoma State’s loss streak to four games. The Cowboys last win came in double overtime at home against against the Red Raiders two weeks ago.

The Cowboys had only one field goal in an eight-minute stretch in the second half but still managed to be down only 52-50 with just less than four minutes remaining. Byron Eaton’s layup with 3:22 remaining tied it at 52.

A three-point play by Zeno gave Tech a 55-53 but Boggan putback a rebound to pull with a point with 1:40 left.

Jon Plefka hit a bucket and Byron Eaton sank three free throws after getting fouled beyond the arc to tie it at 57 with 42.3 remaining.

Boggan scored 17 for the Cowboys (19-9, 5-8 Big 12).

Martin Zeno scored 13 points to lead Tech (18-11, 7-7).

It was the first time the Cowboys have outrebounded a team and lost this season. Coming into the game they were 11-0 when grabbing more rebounds than their opponents.

At one point in the first half, the Cowboys scored on only 2 of 11 possessions with Mario Boggan getting both buckets. They committed 12 first half fouls, which Tech converted into 8-of-12 free throws.

Tech used an 11-0 run to go up 28-21 before David Monds, JamesOn Curry and Marcus Dove each hit field goals to pull within 28-27 with 1:28 remaining in the first half. A 3-pointer by Alan Voskuil and a floater by Charlie Burgess put Tech up 33-27 at halftime.

A light haze hung above the court as particles of dust from winds gusting up to 60 mph outside found their way into the arena. Crews swept the floor at every timeout to ensure players’ footing was not compromised.
