Willie Williams, a former Miami recruit and linebacker who made headlines for his numerous legal troubles, will transfer to Louisville, according to an ESPN report.

Williams, who has been attending West Los Angeles Community College in Culver City, Calif., is expected to enroll during the summer and will be eligible to play immediately under new Louisville coach Steve Kragthorpe, according to the report, which cited a university source Thursday.

Williams redshirted in 2004 and saw action in 10 Hurricanes games in 2005 as a backup outside linebacker. He asked for his release from the Miami program prior to the 2006 season.

The linebacker has had a history of legal trouble. He pleaded no contest in 2004 following incidents in Gainesville, Fla., during his recruiting trip to Florida. Williams faced a felony count after setting off fire extinguishers at his hotel and a misdemeanor battery charge for hugging a woman without consent.

Under a plea deal for each charge, Williams received a year's probation as well as community service. Williams, one of the nation's top recruits in 2004, was arrested 11 times in a five-year span from 2000-04, mainly on theft and burglary charges. Before the incidents at Florida, he already was on probation for a 2002 felony burglary charge.
