Dallas Cowboys coach Bill Parcells blasted reports that he had called the New York Giants to inquire about the general manager job, the New York Daily News reported Wednesday.
"There is absolutely nothing to it," said Parcells, who called Giants co-owner John Mara to quash the rumors. "Absolutely nothing. There has been no contact, either directly or through an intermediary. Whoever said it is a liar."
Parcells has not said whether he will return for his fifth season with the Cowboys. Dallas lost to Seattle 21-20 in the first round of the NFL playoffs on Saturday. He has until Feb. 1 to decide.
Parcells coached the Giants to two Super Bowl victories in 1987 and 1991, and once was a general manager, with the Jets from 1997-1999.
