QB Parker picks Clemson over Nebraska

Tigers already have two signal-callers on board for 2008 class

Clemson’s most recent commitment came this week from Jacksonville (Fla.) Bartram Trail quarterback Kyle Parker, who also had an offer from Nebraska. Parker becomes the second quarterback in the 2008 class to commit to the Tigers, joining Jon Richt of Athens (Ga.) Prince Avenue.

Florida State has offered local Rivals100 to watch cornerback T.J. Bryant. The 6-foot, 175-pounder maintains there are no leaders at this time. However, FSU's success at Tallahassee (Fla.) Lincoln is a plus.

Boston College
Bill McGovern, one of the few recruiters that stayed with Boston College after Tom O’Brien left for N.C. State, was critical in keeping commits like Will Thompson and Dan Williams. McGovern also helped land players like John Elliott, Chris Johnson and Ifeanyi Momah. For his efforts, McGovern was named as one of the top 10 recruiters in the ACC by Rivals.com. … After adding Brad Newman this past year, the Eagles are already in good position with Rivals100 to watch member Art Forst. The 6-foot-8, 288-pounder has an offer from Boston College and may head to Chestnut Hill for camp this summer. Forst said the addition of Newman could be a big factor in his recruitment.

Clemson
The Tigers’ Billy Napier was named as one of the top 25 recruiters in the nation by Rivals.com. Napier landed top recruits including Marcus Gilchrist, Landon Walker, Kourtnei Brown and Brian Linthicum. … Clemson already has five commitments for 2008. The most recent came this week from quarterback Kyle Parker, who also had an offer from Nebraska. Parker is joined by fellow 2008 commits quarterback Jon Richt, offensive tackle Matt Skinner and Rivals100 to watch prospects DaQuan Bowers and Marquan Jones. Jones also has an offer from South Carolina, while Bowers held scholarship offers from Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee and others.

Duke
Duke already sent out a scholarship offer to Fayetteville (Ga.) Fayette County cornerback Brandon Boykin. The 5-foot-11, 171-pounder plans to make his way to Duke’s junior day this weekend. Joining him in Durham, N.C., will be top prospects like quarterback Kyle Frazier, offensive tackle Art Forst, cornerback Darryl Hamilton and kicker Casey Barth. … Duke has offers out to  Buford, Ga., teammates T.J. Pridemore and Omar Hunter. … The Blue Devils are also the first team to offer Lithonia (Ga.) Martin Luther King Jr. offensive guard A.J. Hawkins.

Florida State
John Lilly was one of the top 25 recruiters in the country again. In the Class of 2007 Lilly pulled in top talents including Dionte Allen, Jamar Jackson, Markish Jones and Kendall Smith. … Florida State has offered local Rivals100 to watch cornerback T.J. Bryant. The 6-foot, 175-pounder maintains there are no leaders at this time. However, FSU’s success at Tallahassee (Fla.) Lincoln is a plus. …. Linebacker Nigel Bradham, another member of the Rivals100 to watch, holds an offer from FSU and is favoring the Seminoles. The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder claims to be a longtime Florida State fan. … Florida State is one of the leaders for Georgia linebacker Steven Sylvester. The Seminoles, along with Georgia Tech and South Carolina, have already offered.

Georgia Tech
Recruiting coordinator Giff Smith was named one of the top 25 recruiters in the country for helping Georgia Tech land the nation’s No. 20 class. Headliners in the group were Josh Nesbitt and D.J. Conley. … The Yellow Jackets already have one commitment for 2008 in wide receiver Chris Jackson. The McDonough (Ga.) Henry County prospect picked Georgia Tech over an offer from Tennessee. … Georgia Tech has offered Ellenwood (Ga.) Cedar Grove wide receiver Joshua Jarboe. The 6-foot-3, 195-pounder claims there are no leaders, but he also said he grew up a fan of the Yellow Jackets.

Maryland
Maryland’s Dave Sollazzo was named as one of the top 10 recruiters in the ACC after helping the Terrapins land top prospects like Bruce Campbell, Tony Logan and Lansford Watson. … The Terrapins already have a commitment for 2008 from Rivals250 to watch member Kevin Dorsey. … Maryland has already offered Virginia quarterback E.J. Manuel. Although he has no favorites, his coach maintains the Rivals250 to watch prospect is very interested in the Terrapins. … The Terps are the first school to offer Greenwich, Conn., linebacker Jonathan Meyers. The 6-foot-1, 215-pounder plans to make his way back to College Park later this month.

Miami
Rivals.com top 25 recruiter Tim Walton was big for the Hurricanes in the class of 2007. Walton helped the Hurricanes land Graig Cooper, Doug Wiggins, Demarcus VanDyke and Jared Campbell. … Miami is one of three early leaders for Rivals100 to watch defensive back Patrick Johnson. The Pompano (Fla.) Ely prospect claims Georgia, Miami and Florida are his leaders. He holds offers from all three programs. … Rivals100 to watch defensive tackle Marcus Forston holds an offer from Miami and is favoring the Hurricanes at this time. The local Northwestern prospect also is looking at USC, Florida, Auburn and Rutgers.
