ALBANY, N.Y. - A third Albany football player was charged with raping a female student in a dorm at the state university.

Charles Guadagno, an 18-year-old freshman from Fallston, Md., was charged Wednesday with first-degree rape, provost Susan Herbst said.

On Monday, freshmen Lorenzo Ashbourne of Smyrna, Ga., and Julius Harris of Riviera Beach, Fla., both 18, were arraigned on a similar charge in connection with the early Sunday attack.

All three will be suspended from the university and team, Herbst said. The woman was said to be an acquaintance of Ashbourne and Harris.

University police are investigating with the district attorney’s office, but Herbst said there are no other suspects.

Albany competes in Division I-AA in the Northeast Conference and is to play St. Francis in a homecoming game this weekend. Guadagno is a tailback while Ashbourne is a cornerback and Harris a receiver.
