COLUMBUS, Ohio - Rick Nash, Jaroslav Balastik, Anson Carter and Geoff Platt scored as the Columbus Blue Jackets beat the Buffalo Sabres 4-1 in a preseason game Tuesday night.
Blue Jackets forward Sergei Fedorov fell and slammed into the end boards 30 seconds into the second period, injuring his shoulder. The 36-year-old center didn’t return and was to be evaluated Wednesday.
Jochen Hecht beat Blue Jackets goaltender Ty Conklin with a long shot 17 seconds after Fedorov left to give Buffalo a 1-0 lead.
Columbus responded with two power-play goals in a 37-second span midway through the period.
Nash fired a one-timed shot from the right circle past Ryan Miller at 9:49. Balastik then steered the puck into an open net before Miller could recover to make it 2-1.
Carter made a nifty move to score on a backhand shot — another Columbus power-play tally — at 5:35 of the third period.
Platt beat Miller with a shot from the right circle.
Buffalo outshot Columbus 41-26.
