APNEW YORK - Venus and Serena Williams top the list of most popular female sports stars, and Michelle Kwan made the top 10 despite dropping out of the Winter Olympics.
Kwan remains the most popular figure skater and is the sixth-most popular female sports star, according to the latest Harris Poll.
Mia Hamm, Michelle Wie and Danica Patrick ranked behind the Williams sisters. Kwan was ahead of Annika Sorenstam, Maria Sharapova, Anna Kournikova and Sasha Cohen — the only other figure skater in the top 10.
Kwan withdrew from the Turin Games in February with a groin injury after her first practice session. She did not compete in a meaningful event all last season because of injuries.
Kwan is the most decorated figure skater in U.S. history with 43 championships, including five world titles, nine national crowns and two Olympic medals.
Harris Interactive conducted the online poll among a nationwide sample of 2,085 U.S. adults.
