APTerrell Owens made an impact in the Dallas Cowboys' win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night, catching two TD passes.
But that was practically forgotten afterward because Owens admitted that he spit at Falcons defender DeAngelo Hall.
“I got frustrated and I apologize for that,” T.O. told the NFL Network. “It was a situation where he kept bugging me and getting in my face. He just kept getting in my face.”
Owens also kept the spotlight glaring by mentioning he has torn ligaments in his right ring finger. Surgery is needed, but he’s waiting until the offseason.
“I’m doing this for the team,” he said, indicating the injury could be partly to blame for his league-leading 15 dropped passes.
Hall, meanwhile, wants Owens suspended instead of just fined for the spitting.
"I think, for what he did, he deserves more than a fine," Hall said, ESPN reported Sunday. "The guy has all the money in the world. He's making $10 million or whatever this year. So what's a fine going to mean to him, really? What he did, it was (vulgar), you know? But he's a great player, a great competitor, and what would hurt him a lot more than a fine is making him sit. That would get his attention. And that's what I think the league should do. They need to do something pretty (severe), because there's something wrong with him, and he just can't get away with this kind of stuff."
Oh, and the Cowboys next face the Philadelphia Eagles, Owens' former teammates.
Outlook: Shaky
Rotoworld: Oregon RB LaMichael James and Oklahoma State WR Justin Blackmon among top 10 players who are being overhyped for the 2012 draft.
Rotoworld: Texas A&M QB Ryan Tannehill among the 10 players who will slip down draft boards, but probably shouldn't.
