My brother Steven and I were bat boys in the early 1980's at the Twins single A ball club in Visalia, Calif. So many greats passed through on their way to the 'big time' as did Kirby who made such a wonderful and lasting impression on the lives of everyone he came in contact with throughout his career. Coming over to our house in the hot summer months to swim and barbeque on days off are some of the fondest memories I have from those days way back when. Kirby helped teach me about the love for the game emulating the highest level of professionalism and sportsmanship while teaching me to catch fly balls and step up to the plate to take my turn. All lessons I still look back to this day. Kirby's passing is a great loss to all who knew him and he will be dearly missed. The loss of Kirby Puckett is simply devastating. That's the only word that can aptly describe the feeling when the world (baseball and beyond) loses a man of his caliber.
