Been a SF Giants fan all of my adult life, but knew about Kirby and his big heart and his LOVE of the game. He was, and is, a baseball legend, for sure. To lose him this early is tragic. As a kid growing up in St. Paul, I waited for the evening news sports highlights to see what Kirby had done that day. Even a 3-hit game was exciting because you could see what fun it was for him. I was at Game 6 in 1991. What a game, and it was all Kirby! That leaping catch was absolutely awesome and then he hits the homer. We all waved our homer hankees out the car windows and honked our horns in the mass exodus leaving that game! You knew the tide had changed. He was just a NICE giant in the game - what a guy. He will be remembered here in the Midwest forever. It's a sad day. Our prayers are with him and his family.
