Readers share their thoughts on Puckett

I would say without question that baseball has lost a class act. He was a tough player and an excellent player his entire career. If there were ever a player whom kids should look up to it should be PUCK. I'm only 5 years older than he is. This really is unbelievable. I found out about his passing by getting on the net. I'm very shocked that he passed away. RIP PUCK!!!!!!

This is just not the way it is suppose to end for such a talented ball player and from what I have been reading, a nice person that brought joy and laughter whenever he was around. My condolences to his family. Rest in Peace Kirby.

Kirby Puckett was a great person as well as a Baseball player. Twins were one of my teams growing up and Kirby was one of their best. My cousin Joe DiMaggio would have been proud of him as a person and baseball player. We'll Miss you.

A class act. Love and prayers to hi family. He will be sorely missed.
— Phillip Adams, Arlanta

Kirby achieved one thing that was very rare for an athlete in today's "me-first" sports world: He was not only respected, but he was loved as well. Today is truly a sad day for Minnesota, Twins fans, and baseball in general.

Growing up collecting cards as a young kid I immediately knew that face and smile- I always liked the way he was portrayed in the sport of baseball. Its sad that anyone has to be taken at such a young age- I pray that the family recieve peace, strength and the knowledge that Kirby was loved.

Kirby Puckett was forced out of his career and love of his life - baseball - by his glaucoma. He was an inspirational player, and one love by home town and visiting fans alike. We will miss him!
