NEW YORK - Thom Brennaman will be the lead play-by-play announcer when Fox begins coverage of the Bowl Championship Series in 2007.
Brennaman will announce the BCS championship game on Jan. 8, as well as one of the other BCS bowls the network will broadcast — Fiesta, Sugar and Orange.
“Thom’s passion and enthusiasm for college football, combined with his big-game voice, made him the perfect choice,” Fox Sports president Ed Goren said. “I am positive that college football fans from coast to coast will enjoy listening to him next January.”
Brennaman has called the Cotton Bowl for the last seven years for Fox, and the baseball playoffs for the past six years.
The play-by-play announcer for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Brennaman is the son of Hall of Fame Cincinnati Reds announcer Marty Brennaman.
