LAS VEGAS - World Cup winners Bode Miller, Daron Rahlves and Lindsey Kildow head the 19-member U.S. Alpine ski team for the Turin Olympic.

The often-controversial Miller brings the most impressive credentials to the squad announced Wednesday night at a trade show. The reigning overall World Cup champion was the lone U.S. Alpine medal winner at the Salt Lake City Olympics four years ago, earning silver in the giant slalom and combined.

Rahlves has won 11 World Cup races, three this season.

Kildow, 21, finished sixth in the combined at the Salt Lake City Games, the highest finish among the U.S. women. She has won four World Cup downhills, three this season. She is joined by her longtime U.S. rival, 21-year-old Julia Mancuso, who had two third-place finishes at last year’s world championships.

“This is an incredibly talented group of athletes,” U.S. Alpine director Jesse Hunt said. “We’ve never had such a wealth of experience at this level. Not only do we have more than a dozen Olympians from previous games, but eight of them have won World Cup races or medaled at the world championships.”

All of the team members are competing in World Cup races in Europe this weekend, the men in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, and the women in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.

Some of them will skip a race or two before the Olympics begin in Turin on Feb. 10. The first race, the men’s downhill, is scheduled for Feb. 12.
