The U.S. can nominate up to eight skiers ranked in the top 50 overall in World Cup competition or in the top 30 in the sprint or distance standings as of Jan. 16.

If spots are still available, the USSA may nominate additional athletes.

The U.S. team is expected to be its strongest in years.

Kris Freeman has picked up top-10 finishes in World Cup competition, while Andy Newell and Carl Swenson prove the team medal hopefuls in the pursuit events.

Also, Torin Koos is strong in the sprints.

The women’s team is expected to be led by Rebecca Dussault, who is back to racing after taking time to marry and have a son. Sarah Konrad and Abi Larson also will compete for spots on the team.
