World Cup champion Apolo Anton Ohno, front, looks to continue his short-track speedskating dominance for the U.S. Olympic team at Turin.

Skiing (Nordic combined)

The six-man U.S. Nordic combined team was finalized Jan. 16. Up to four skiers may start in each event - individual, sprint and team.

After barely missing the podium in Salt Lake, the U.S. team feels it’s on pace for a team medal in Turin.

Todd Lodwick, a six-time World Cup champion, is considered the Americans’ top medal prospect in the sport. Lodwick is only the second Nordic combined skier in U.S. history to make four Olympic teams. Mike Devecka did it from 1968-80.

Spinter Johnny Spillane, a former world champion, is nursing a separated right shoulder that will require surgery after the Olympics, but he will compete through the pain.

Twins Brett and Eric Camerota, 21, both will compete for the U.S. The pair moved to Park City, Utah, when they were six and began jumping and skiing together.

Bill Demong fractured his skull three years ago when goofing off in a swimming pool after a competition in Germany — only eight months after he was airlifted off a jump in Slovakia following a face-first crash into the hill during training before an event. He managed to fight back, however, and earn a spot on the squad.

Carl Van Loan was also selected to the team.
